19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
