The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season introduces a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
